Monday, August 31st, 2015Author Jacqueline Houtman in the house!!
Tuesday, July 7th, 2015We were so excited to have author Jacqueline Houtman and her husband celebrate their anniversary by staying with us here at Naeset Roe. Jacqueline is a science writer for adults and children and has appeared in World Book Science Year, FASEB’s Breakthroughs in Bioscience series, Cleveland Clinic Magazine, The Dana Foundation’s Progress in Brain Research, The Dana Sourcebook of Immunology and numerous academic and educational publications. She has a PhD in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and started writing after leaving the lab. When we introduced our son to her, we were excited to find out that he had already read her books. How cool was that for him to have the author of a book he had already read staying here. She kindly signed an autographed copy of a book for him. A life experience he will not soon forget. Thanks for a wonderful weekend and engaging conversation.
The garden is really changing.
Wednesday, June 17th, 2015Norway in the house!!!
Thursday, May 28th, 2015What an exciting week. Last weekend was the big city festival known as Syttende Mai (aka Seventeenth of May.) In honor of the grand opening of Stoughton’s Norwegian Heritage Center, the city brought in guests from our sister city in Norway (Gjovik.) Naeset Roe was so honored to have part of the group stay here with us. We made some new friends from amazing Norway as well as our local connection in Kenosha. We look forward to seeing them again.
It was a weekend full of food, fun and friends. Can’t wait until next year!
Celebrity in the house!
Wednesday, May 13th, 2015We were so pleased to have Cynthia Ruchti recently stay here at Naeset Roe. She is the award winning author of 15 books and counting. For 33 years she has written and produced “The Heartbeat of the Home,” a radio broadcast recognized across the country. Cynthia is an inspiring motivational speaker. I count myself lucky that I was able to attend one of her workshops. She recently agreed to work as a mentor to up and coming writers. I am so glad she did because we also had the pleasure to have her intern, Jamie, stay with us. Scott and I can’t say enough good things about those two ladies. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with them. Can’t wait to see where life leads them and look forward to seeing them again.
Lovely Lilacs…

Thursday, April 23rd, 2015Let the yard work begin…
Thursday, April 23rd, 2015The yard work is well underway. We have added fencing around the backyard providing a safe place for the pets. We have installed arbors at the gates and look forward to flowering vines. A vegetable garden in the back next to the garage will (hopefully) provide summer goodies. The grass, unfortunately, looks to be a daunting task.
