Main St, Stoughton, WI. Then Saturday, Sept. 26th, 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday, Sept. 27th 10 am – 4 pm tour 39 artists work in and around 7 historic communities in Southern Dane County.
Ann Kleckner, president of 14 South Artists says, “Artists do what they do because they love doing it. When you buy original art, you participate in the process of promoting the arts, and help to sustain the quality lifestyle of small communities. You are not just buying a thing. You are buying an original work, made by an artist out of love. It’s not just an object…it carries the energy of the artist who created it.”

If you are like my Inn, a good bottle of wine or me, you have a little age on you. That makes us a little unique in the world.
We also lived through the original reality TV, when the only Big Brother was a book. Shows like Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In & The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour were our reality. To get Variety in your programs you didn’t have to hit a button on the remote, you watched a Variety Show. We heard a few good jokes, a few good songs, and most likely a little sarcasm.
Well you can relive part of your past at the Stoughton Opera House on Sunday November 15th, when Tommy and Dick grace the stage with their “The Smothers Brothers Show, An Intimate Evening with Tom and Dick”
“The Smothers Brothers have been described as comedic treasures, comic geniuses, rare, original and peerless.” Tickets for the show are only $60, but I think they are priceless.
While you are out enjoying yourself, why not extend your enjoyment and your weekend with a night at the Naeset Roe Inn a bed and breakfast. Just three blocks from the Opera House, the Inn is known for its homey relaxing atmosphere and owner Carl Povlick’s 4 course breakfast. But don’t call me a chef, even if I have 40 years in the restaurant business. “I’m just a DGC (damn good cook).”
So call the Stoughton Opera House Box Office at 608-877-4400 to get your tickets for The Smothers Brothers Show and go online to www.naesetroe.comand book your room for the show in Stoughton Wisconsin.
A Staycation is what a lot of you are doing this year. Taking a quick overnight or two night trip, not to far away from home, just to get away and do something different. Instead of that 10 day trip to the Rocky Mountains. It isn’t going to break the bank and you’re away from reality for a while.
Think about visiting Stoughton WI and experience all the history of this Norwegian founded city. Architecture to art are all around. Shop Main Street then grab a pizza and a movie. Classes are another option. All this is only walking distance from Naeset-Roe Inn, the Victorian bed and breakfast in Stoughton, WI. A show, dinner, a great bed and a fabulous breakfast. What could be better?
You’ll be staying in a quiet Victorian B&B and you can walk to the theater and bistro. You don’t have to worry about having a second glass of wine or a nightcap before you come back to the inn.

Just got done with a Girl Friends Weekend for the Red Bowl Club. Did they have a good time! So did I.
The Red Bowl Club is a group of 7 girl friends that have been getting together for about 12 years. Once a year they pick a B&B and go there to reconnect, regroup and have a great time. And that is exactly what they did. I know that the piano hasn’t been played that much in 6 years. It held up well and the harmony was good. They accompanied themselves with a set of tuned plastic pipes that you hit on yourself or others to get the note out. What a blast. As you can imagine breakfast conversation was lively and they sure enjoyed the food as much as I enjoyed making it for them. (more…)
