The Stoughton Fair is just around the corner.  Lots of Youth Exhibits, a Big Midway, Great Food and Family Entertainment.  If you want to have a great old fashion good time get over to Stoughton June 30th – July 4th for the Fair.  Friday Fish Fry, Saturday Chicken Dinner.  Donkey Racing, Pig wrestling, A Demo Derby.  Don’t forget all the animals being judged from all the kids in the area.  And great fireworks cap it all off on July 4th. The Flower Factory Nursery ,  just outside of Stoughton WI is open and waiting for your arrival.  The weather may be a little screwed up with 80′s a few weeks ago and freeze warning for tonight, but The Flower Factory Nursery is open and selling the Midwest’s largest selection of perennials, hostas, and ornamental grasses.

Syttende Mai is coming to Stoughton WI May 14th – 16, 2010.  It’s a weekend to celebrate our Norwegian heritage and Norways Independance Day.  The city will  be full of things to do, see, and eat.  Come and watch the World Famour Stoughton High School Norwegian Dancers, veiw quilts and Hardanger, sample Norwegain Meatballs, Fried Cheese Curds and Cream Puffs.  You can participate  in the Syttende Mai Run, Walk or Lil’ Syttende Mai Run.  There is a great Arts and Craft Fair.  Don’t miss the Grand Finale the Norwegian Parade Sunday at 1:30. If you are like my Inn, a good bottle of wine or me, you have a little age on you.  That makes us a little unique in the world. 

We also lived through the original reality TV, when the only Big Brother was a book.  Shows like Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In & The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour were our reality.  To get Variety in your programs you didn’t have to hit a button on the remote, you watched a Variety Show.  We heard a few good jokes, a few good songs, and most likely a little sarcasm.

Ham or bacon, seafood for breakfast, socialism or democracy, the best quilt store Saving Thyme and the perfect place to buy a wedding gift Clock Tower Gifts.  These are some of the subjects that came up in spirited conversation over breakfast this last weekend at Naeset-Roe Inn in Stoughton, WI.  One guest made the comment that they have never had breakfast last 1 ½ hours and enjoyed it so much.

It made me think, “Do people actually read this blog and if they do what do they think?”, “What has happened to conversations?”  A friend and shop owner released her first email newsletter this week.  Scentimints a bath, body and candle scent shop, where I get all my candles from, has a forum in the newsletter where people can make comments.  So I went and made a comment about what a great job she did on the newsletter and what great products she has.  Later when I went into the shop to pick up some things, she made the comment, “thanks for putting something on the forum, maybe others will realize that it isn’t just for reading.”  The conversation went the way I was thinking earlier, what do people really think, and why don’t they tell us.

We as small business owners can only meet your expectations if we know them.  Don’t be afraid to let someone know what you want or if something isn’t quite right.   Don’t forget to compliment them when something is good also.  I as a B&B owner check light bulbs and drains regularly but if a bulb goes out while you are here let me know so I can replace it, or if a drain is running slow let me know so I can fix it.  It’s the same with this blog.  If you like what you read make a comment at the bottom.  If you would like to hear more about a subject make a comment and I’ll let you know more.  I know that it takes a little longer to write a comment than it does to speak one but this is the forum that I’m using and I’d like to know what you think.
