Branson on the Road

Branson on the Road from Stoughton Opera House

Mark your calendar for this show, “…that most people thought was long gone in this day of overproduced music.”  Branson on the Road with Special Guest Maggie Mae is coming to the Stoughton Opera House, Thursday, April 15, 7:00 pm.  Make a night of it with this special package from Naeset Roe Inn.  Two first floor seats in the historic Stoughton Opera House, a $50 certificate for dinner at Laz Bistro this evening, and a room at the Inn, with a fabulous 4 course breakfast in the morning.   If you need to get to work the next day I’ll even have breakfast early, or you may want to sleep in, take Friday as a furlough day, and explore Historic Stoughton.  (more…)

Mom Always Liked You Best

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

If you are like my Inn, a good bottle of wine or me, you have a little age on you.  That makes us a little unique in the world.

We also lived through the original reality TV, when the only Big Brother was a book.  Shows like Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In & The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour were our reality.  To get Variety in your programs you didn’t have to hit a button on the remote, you watched a Variety Show.  We heard a few good jokes, a few good songs, and most likely a little sarcasm.

Well you can relive part of your past at the Stoughton Opera House on Sunday November 15th, when Tommy and Dick grace the stage with their “The Smothers Brothers Show, An Intimate Evening with Tom and Dick”

“The Smothers Brothers have been described as comedic treasures, comic geniuses, rare, original and peerless.”  Tickets for the show are only $60, but I think they are priceless.

While you are out enjoying yourself, why not extend your enjoyment and your weekend with a night at the Naeset Roe Inn a bed and breakfast.  Just three blocks from the Opera House, the Inn is known for its homey relaxing atmosphere and owner Carl Povlick’s 4 course breakfast.  But don’t call me a chef, even if I have 40 years in the restaurant business.  “I’m just a DGC (damn good cook).”

So call the Stoughton Opera House Box Office at 608-877-4400 to get your tickets for The Smothers Brothers Show and go online to www.naesetroe.comand book your room for the show in Stoughton Wisconsin.

Cabin Fever?

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Getting cabin fever and need to get away?  Well Stoughton has some great things coming up this month.

My favorite Gallery is having a new show entitled “Special Places”  the artist is Tim Mulholland.  The show runs trough April 19th.   But you can enjoy it from the beginning with the Artist’s Reception Friday, March 6th, 5pm – 8pm.  Visit  The gallery is only two blocks from Naeset-Roe Inn, 184 W. Main Street., so it is a nice evening walk away, even in this cold March weather.  Tim does a wonderful job with his camera, and has a great collection of Wisconsin scenes.

The Stoughton Opera House is offering some good shows this month.  Visit the Stoughton Opera House Website for more information. (more…)

Victorian Holiday Weekend

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

We here in Stoughton are ready to really kick off the holiday season in style! We really love the holidays around here and want you to come and share them with us! Our Stoughton Bed and Breakfast is right next to the action!

This weekend (Dec. 5-7) Stoughton will be having a variety of events and parades, creating a delightful extravaganza of the fun of Christmas! Welcome to the Victorian Holiday Weekend!

The weekend will kick off with a tree lighting ceremony featuring the Stoughton High School Madrigal Singers. There will be carriage rides and later that night be whisked away to a magical ball, the Grand Victorian Holiday Ball! Held at the Stoughton Center for the Preforming Arts, there are plenty of nice places nearby to have a glass of wine or enjoy some light piano music after the party.

On Saturday, many townsfolk and vendors will be in Victorian costume. Enjoy window shopping by using our complimentary trolley car to get around town.

The long-standing traditional event is the silent Fire Truck Parade, where local fire departments vie for first place in a decoration competition. Cast your vote for your favorite truck while enjoying hot cider and refreshments.

And make sure not to miss our annual production of the Nutcracker! No holiday season would be complete without this wonderful performance!

On Sunday join us for a new event – the Bed Race! Businesses and families will be pushing and pulling beds on wheels while in their nightclothes! It is bound to be hilarious fun for everyone!

We look forward to seeing you around town and hopefully at the Inn, where we will be sharing holiday cheer by the handful! Make sure to check the Victorian Holiday Weekend web site for a full listing of events and activities.
