Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this comic has Midwest values and ideals. Now living in fabulous Las Vegas she has developed into a sarcastic edgy woman with attitude and humor. Being a divorced mother has provided her with a quick wit and a realistic look at life. Her observation of the world around her is outrageous! Blended together makes for a very funny lady. Audiences around the country are praising this hilariously funny lady. Kathleen is one of the funniest female comics to hit the industry in years. (more…)

a Staycation idea!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

A Staycation is what a lot of you are doing this year.  Taking a guick overnight or two night trip, not to far away from home, just to get away and do something differant.  Instead of that 10 day trip to the Rocky Mountains.  It isn’t going to break the bank and you’re away from reality for a while.

Thnik about visiting Stoughton WI and experiance all the historyof this Norwegian founded city.  Architeture to art are all around.  Shop Main Street then grab a pizza and a movie.  Classes are another option. All this is only walking distance from Naeset-Roe Inn.  The Victorian bed and breakfast in StoughtonWI.  A show, dinner, a great bed and a fabulous breakfast.  What could be better?

Looking for something to do after the summer?  Think about an Over Night Staycation to Stoughton WI and Naeset-Roe Inn.  Pair it with a concert at The Stoughton Opera House and dinner at Laz Bistro.

You’ll be staying in a quite Victorian B&B and you can walk to the theater and bistro.  You don’t have to worry about having a second glass of wine or a night cap before you come back to the inn.

The Stoughton Opera House has released a sneak peek of the up coming season (more…)

What Do You Think?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Ham or bacon, seafood for breakfast, socialism or democracy, the best quilt store Saving Thyme and the perfect place to buy a wedding gift Clock Tower Gifts.  These are some of the subjects that came up in spirited conversation over breakfast this last weekend at Naeset-Roe Inn in Stoughton, WI.  One guest made the comment that they have never had breakfast last 1 ½ hours and enjoyed it so much.

It made me think, “Do people actually read this blog and if they do what do they think?”, “What has happened to conversations?”  A friend and shop owner released her first email newsletter this week.  Scentimints a bath, body and candle scent shop, where I get all my candles from, has a forum in the newsletter where people can make comments.  So I went and made a comment about what a great job she did on the newsletter and what great products she has.  Later when I went into the shop to pick up some things, she made the comment, “thanks for putting something on the forum, maybe others will realize that it isn’t just for reading.”  The conversation went the way I was thinking earlier, what do people really think, and why don’t they tell us.

We as small business owners can only meet your expectations if we know them.  Don’t be afraid to let someone know what you want or if something isn’t quite right.   Don’t forget to compliment them when something is good also.  I as a B&B owner check light bulbs and drains regularly but if a bulb goes out while you are here let me know so I can replace it, or if a drain is running slow let me know so I can fix it.  It’s the same with this blog.  If you like what you read make a comment at the bottom.  If you would like to hear more about a subject make a comment and I’ll let you know more.  I know that it takes a little longer to write a comment than it does to speak one but this is the forum that I’m using and I’d like to know what you think.

Phone etiquette:

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

When you call someone who doesn’t know you, to make a reservation, and you leave a call back number please remember to speak sssllooooowly when you leave the number and even say it twice.  Some poor soul in San Antonio, Texas, named Connie, isn’t going to get to enjoy the hospitality of Naeset Roe Inn in Stoughton, WI when she comes up in July because when she gave the phone number, she said it so fast that one of the digits was lost.  Now it may have been that she was using a cell phone, and we know how they work sometime, but if she would have repeated the number again there is a chance that I would have called her back.

Just to let you know Connie, I did try to locate you.  I looked up area code 830 and looked for exchanges that ended in the last two digits I got.  Then I did call the three that are used in your area.  One call wouldn’t connect to anything, one said the number isn’t in use, and one said the phone was either turned off or the battery was dead on the phone.  So those of you that are using cell phones to call someplace and you expect a call back, remember to speak the number ssslllooowwly, repeat it again just incase, and charge your phone up.  I hope that Connie calls me back, because I would love to have her stay at Naeset Roe Inn.

For those of you that are looking for a staycation, Naeset Roe Inn is a great place to get away for a few days, or just a day if you can only do that.  I’m known for a friendly, comfortable atmosphere, great food for breakfast, and I’m only an hour twenty minutes east of Milwaukee.  Chicago is only about 3 hours and I know people that make Minneapolis in 4 hours 30 minutes.

You’ll find enough to do here in Stoughton with great shopping for all those special occasions coming up, or you can take a class in a lot of different art media, or shop for some art for yourself.  Painting, pottery, quilting, jewelry, photography, or textile art are all well represented here in Stoughton.  You can check out some of the art and shops at http://www.historicstoughton.com/.

Come on, book a room at Naeset Roe Inn and enjoy Stoughton WI.
