What Do You Think?

Ham or bacon, seafood for breakfast, socialism or democracy, the best quilt store Saving Thyme and the perfect place to buy a wedding gift Clock Tower Gifts.  These are some of the subjects that came up in spirited conversation over breakfast this last weekend at Naeset-Roe Inn in Stoughton, WI.  One guest made the comment that they have never had breakfast last 1 ½ hours and enjoyed it so much.

It made me think, “Do people actually read this blog and if they do what do they think?”, “What has happened to conversations?”  A friend and shop owner released her first email newsletter this week.  Scentimints, a bath, body and candle scent shop, where I get all my candles from, has a forum in the newsletter where people can make comments.  So I went and made a comment about what a great job she did on the newsletter and what great products she has.  Later when I went into the shop to pick up some things, she made the comment, “Thanks for putting something on the forum, maybe others will realize that it isn’t just for reading.”  The conversation went the way I was thinking earlier, what do people really think, and why don’t they tell us.

We as small business owners can only meet your expectations if we know them.  Don’t be afraid to let someone know what you want or if something isn’t quite right.   Don’t forget to compliment them when something is good also.  I as a B&B owner check light bulbs and drains regularly but if a bulb goes out while you are here let me know so I can replace it, or if a drain is running slow let me know so I can fix it.  It’s the same with this blog.  If you like what you read make a comment at the bottom.  If you would like to hear more about a subject make a comment and I’ll let you know more.  I know that it takes a little longer to write a comment than it does to speak one but this is the forum that I’m using and I’d like to know what you think.

This is “What I Think” Carl. As Doug and I, my Sister Judy and Hubby Dave pulled up in front of your beautiful home and saw you waiting for us on the porch, we knew we were in for a treat. We can’t thank you enough for all the little things you did for us during our stay, including looking after Doug while Judy and I cheered Dave on as he completed the Ironman Marathon in Madison and having the scores ready for Dave when we returned. He was so touched that you took the time to give him the standings. Oh, and the chocolate helped too!!! We were also impressed with the lavish breakfast you presented to us and the other guests we met during our time at the table. You made us all feel like family. Dave did the Marathon but Judy and I put on at least 3 or 4 miles just tracking him but I still gained 3 lbs. Doug and I have a dog who we missed while away but Zack did give us lots of fur time and we loved how he knows when to shut the door. This was the first experience staying at a B & B for Doug and I and we had such a great time that we will do it again. We feel that we have gained a friend and hope to see you on this side of the lake some time in the near future. I last saw Dave on the 24th of September when I visited Canada, he was doing well but not back to full training yet. Maybe he will visit you the next time he goes to the bike plant in Madison on business. We all had a great, WONDERFUL, time with you and Zack Carl and cannot thank you enough for your hospitality. We even enjoyed our visit with “Bruce”. Carol & Doug from Michigan and Judy and Dave from Ottawa, Canada. We give you a 5 star rating.

Thanks Carol, It was great to have you at the Inn. I’m sure that Dave will walk upright again soon. Doug was no problem looking after, Infact we had a great time while you were sitting somewhere waiting for Dave to come around again.
    Have a great holiday season.
    Carl and Zack.
